Chelsea news: Blues fans receive £200 and ticket refund after Liverpool travel chaos

Chelsea clinched a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday thanks to a spectacular late equaliser from Willian.

However, despite going home with a point, the journey home for some supporters was far from enjoyable.

Fans who were on the Thomas Cook Sport shuttle bus to Liverpool South Parkway station were delayed, resulting in them missing their train home.

And the Blues have revealed they are investigating the incident and will be compensating all those affected, including the cost of their ticket.

“Chelsea Football Club would like to apologise to those supporters who experienced problems returning home from Liverpool via official club transport on Saturday night,” a statement read.

“We are continuing to investigate the issue with our travel partner Thomas Cook Sport and will be compensating supporters for the inconvenience caused by the late arrival of coaches from Anfield to Liverpool South Parkway station.

“We will be jointly refunding each supporter who missed the train £200, plus the cost of their match ticket.

“Delays for fans were caused by two of the five coaches from Anfield arriving at the railway station after the scheduled train departure, which we were unable to delay.

“The club has already received correspondence from some of those affected, and would welcome further observations.

“We will continue to review the process alongside Thomas Cook Sport to ensure these problems are not encountered in future.

“One again, we would like to apologise to all those supporters affected, and thank you for your patience while we have been working on the above arrangements.”

Chelsea’s next away trip is to West Ham on December 9 in the Premier League.
