The airstrikes come after Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi vowed a response with “the utmost force”.
Airstrikes were also launched against targets in nearby mountains.
The attack was launched against a mosque in the town of Bir al-Abed which was bombed before the fleeing worshippers were shot.
