Arsenal news: Jack Wilshere is definitely leaving Gunners in January – Steve Nicol

Wilshere returned to Arsenal this season after spending last term on-loan at Bournemouth.

The midfielder’s injury record has been well-documented and he missed the early stages of this campaign recovering from a broken leg he suffered while playing at the Cherries.

Despite being a regular in the Europa League and Carabao Cup, he has made just two appearances in the Premier League this season, both as a second-half substitute.

Nicol has no idea who will sign Wilshere but says for his own career he has to leave his boyhood club.

“Jack Wilshere has to leave Arsenal,” the former Liverpool defender told ESPN FC.

“Actually, let me start again. Jack Wilshere has to get fit.

“When was the last time he actually spent a period of time on the field, getting a run of games together? I don’t remember the last time.

“So yes, he has to leave Arsenal because he’s not going to play, yes he has to get fit.

“But we saw when he went to Bournemouth, he weren’t exactly a regular there either.

“This is a real conundrum, the guy absolutely has qualities. But do we see it enough? And does he get on the field enough?

“This is a strange one, this is a hit, he’s definitely leaving Arsenal.

“But the outcome and where it is, I have no idea.”
