North Korea plotting NUCLEAR STRIKE during Winter Olympics, host nation fears

The South are believed to be considering scrapping a regular military exercise with the US in a bid to calm tensions with their neighbour ahead of the international event.

Local media are reporting an unnamed South Korean presidential office source as saying they believe the joint military efforts could infuriate Kim Jong-un’s corrupt regime.

Tensions between the US and the rogue nation have worsened over the past six months and the concerns of a nuclear confrontation are affecting ticket sales for the international games.

David Solomito, from international travel company Kayak, has said that tickets to Pyeongchang are proving a less popular buy than the last Olympic games.

He said: “It’s safe to say that while both destinations gained interest in advance of the Games, Rio saw higher travel demand at this point.”

The South Korean and US military usually hold a military exercise in March and April which involves more than 300,000 troops as preparation work for any potential invasion from the corrupt regime.

The South Korea presidential office have said no decision has been made on the future of the military activity, while the defence ministry refused to comment.

Last week the UN General Assembly approved a resolution calling for all countries to observe a truce during the 2018 Winter Olympics, in the hope to remove the risk of an attack.

Recent missile launches from North Korea have proven the rogue nation can travel further than 7000miles.

With the South Korean games taking place less than 300miles from the North’s capital they would be within easy reach of any potential strike.

The communist state has previously threatened to attack the US.

In a statement released just two weeks ago, Kim Jong-u criticised Donald Trump in a statement.

He said: “The world is undergoing unprecedented throes because of Trump, a notorious ‘political heretic’.

“The US must oust the lunatic old man from power and withdraw the hostile policy towards the DPRK at once in order to get rid of the abyss of doom.

“The US had better make a decisive choice… if it does not want a horrible nuclear disaster and tragic doom.”

The US leader has previously warned he has the “three largest aircraft carriers in the world are appropriately positioned” to face Pyongyang.

The Winter Olympics will be held between February 9 and 25, and the Paralympics will take place between March 8 and 18.
