OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X has a very surprising result

OnePlus 5T and iPhone X have gone head-to-head in a new speed test, orchestrated by popular YouTube channel EverythingApplePro.

The YouTube creator pitted the two flagship smartphones against one another in a race to open a slew of mobile apps, including graphics-intensive video games, social networks, shopping apps and video on-demand services.

OnePlus 5T and were also tasked with exporting a 1:27 4K Ultra HD video clip.

The latest handset from OnePlus takes an early lead in the head-to-head against the iPhone X, breezing its way through the swathe of intensive apps.

In fact, the OnePlus 5T only struggles when it reaches the 4K UHD video export, allowing the £999 iPhone X to catch-up.

The iPhone X completes the first lap in 3:23 minutes, while OnePlus 5T passes the finish line in 4:05 minutes.

However things get very interesting in the second lap of the apps.

OnePlus 5T with its borderline excessive 8GB of RAM manages to complete the second lap of apps in 30 seconds.

iPhone X takes more than double that, finishing the second lap of the test in 1:05 minutes.

This performance is attributed to iOS 11, which appears to have issues with RAM management.

is purportedly hard at work addressing these issues, but there is currently no fix in place in the latest release build of iOS.

iOS also includes a number of elaborate and drawn-out animations when opening and closing apps – these all take-up valuable seconds.

Nevertheless, the performance of the OnePlus 5T, which starts at £449, is undeniably impressive.

The iterative update to the and brings a new 6.01-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

To make way for the bigger screen, the fingerprint scanner has now been moved to the back of the device.

OnePlus said the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is not a compromise as the 5T also includes facial recognition, similar to Apple’s Face ID with the iPhone X.

Facial recognition unlocks the phone in 0.4 seconds but data-sensitive apps, such as banking, won’t work without the fingerprint scanner being touched.

The OnePlus 5T will also keep the 3.5mm headphone port, unlike rival devices from Apple, HTC and Google.
