BREAKING: Massive earthquake of 5.0 magnitude rocks Brit holiday destination

The quake hit the south of Turkey in Mugla at 8:22pm GMT on Wednesday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicentre was 31 km (20 miles) southeast of the Turkish coastal city in Bodrum on the Aegean Sea at a depth of 10 km.

So far there are no reports of damage or injuries.

Tremors were felt in neighbouring towns and cities.

Turkey is regularly hit by earthquakes. Mugla was shook by a huge earthquake in July this year, which wreaked havoc across the coastal city.

Across a narrow Aegean Sea waterway in Turkey’s Bodrum, around 70 people were rushed to hospital, with injuries suffered in their attempts to flee the overnight tremor.

The Aegean coast has witnessed several quakes since the start of the year.
