DeMarcus Cousins EJECTED: Pelicans star walks after hitting Russell Westbrook – video

Cousins had scored 18 points and recorded nine rebounds through three quarters before getting into trouble with the officials.

Midway through the third quarter Cousins had possession with Westbrook in close proximity.

And the Pelicans centre clearly attempted to push Westbrook away by bringing his elbow down to WEstbrook’s face.

The officials took their time on making a decision but ended up deciding on a Flagrant two meaning Cousins’ night was over.

The decision was met with an outpouring of boos from the home crowd with the game separated by just four points at the time Cousins was told to walk.

It is the first time Cousins has been ejected after moving to New Orleans at the start of the year.

But he has often come to blows on the court with troubles beginning in his rookie season.

In his last season with the Sacramento Kings Cousins set an unwanted NBA record after becoming the earliest player to be suspended for exceeding the amount of technical fouls allowed over the course of a season.
