TalkTalk and AOL DOWN – Internet not working for HUNDREDS of customers

UPDATE ONE: The issues affecting TalkTalk and AOL today appear to have been resolved.

Down Detector reports of issues with the services have fallen from the hundreds to just a handful.

ORIGINAL: TalkTalk is down right now in the UK for hundreds of customers who have reported issues with the firm’s internet service today.

Independent website Down Detector has received a surge of TalkTalk down reports, with the majority of those affected experiencing issues with their internet connection.

The Down Detector outage map shows users across the UK experiencing issues with TalkTalk today.

Down Detector is an independent website that tracks social mentions around certain topics to detect outages across the globe.

The TalkTalk outage coincided with issues in the US for users of AOL – which is part of the TalkTalk Group.

The official TalkTalk service status page says there are currently issues with the Broadband service in the UK, but added it’s a localised issue. 

TalkTalk customers have been flocking to social media site Twitter to report issues with the service this evening.

One user tweeted: “@TalkTalk Service down. Online chat not working. No Phone line (as it’s not working) to call support. Kegworth Location, BB and Voice both down.”

While another posted: “@TalkTalk no Internet in east Nottinghamshire. Solid red light on router. It appears others are having problems too”.

And one added: “@TalkTalk internet’s down again in Mansfield…..can’t stream anything”.

At the peak of the outage Down Detector received more than 800 TalkTalk down reports.

Express.co.uk has contacted TalkTalk for comment.

In the US there have been hundreds of reports of AOL down on downdetector.com – at its peak there were 1,200 reports of the internet service being down.

AOL customers have reported issues with their e-mails and internet connection.

The AOL Customer Support Twitter has been responding to customers affected by the outage today.

They said the issue has been identified and a fix to resolve the issue is being worked on.
