David Cassidy COMA shock: His greatest hits and the time George Michael sang backing vocal

A representative for the 67-year-old told Express.co.uk: “He was in an induced coma but he is currently conscious and surrounded by family.”

He was rushed to hospital near him home in Fort Lauderdale three days ago and a source close to the family told TMZ his condition was “grim.”

David became a huge international star when he took the role of Keith Partridge at just 20. As well as being a pin-iup adored by screaming fans, he used the musical numbers in the show to springboard his own pop career.

As well as I Think I Love You, we remember some of his other iconic hits.

The first major hit came in 1970 when the Patridge Family sang I Think I Love You on the show and then released it as a single with David on lead vocals.

It hit Number One around the world. Even though it was never classified as his single, it has remained associated with the star thorughout his life and he still performs it to adoring fans at shows.

Solo hits followed like Cherish, Could It Be Forever and How Can I Be Sure which established him as a legitimate pop star in the early 1970s.

David’s last UK hit came in 1973 with double A-side Daydreamer and The Puppy Song.

Despite being one of the biggest stars in the world throughout the 1970’s, he faced bankrupsy in the following decade.

A brief pop comeback was ignited by The Last Kiss in 1985, which hit Number Six in the UK. The song famously featured huge star George Michael on backing vocals, but why?

George Michael later revealed it was because David had been one of the biggest influences on his career when he was growing up.

The success of the single and album, Romance, inspired a sell-out UK and European tour.

In the 1980s David also starred on Broadway in Joseph and the Technicoloured Dreamcoat and Blood Brothers.
