Roger Federer to play until he’s 40? Sky Sports pundit reveals talk from Federer camp

Fleming has spoken to the Federer camp about the 19-time Grand Slam champion’s physical shape.

He is hearing only good things and thinks Federer, now 36, won’t retire anytime soon.

Asked if Federer could play until he’s 40, Shiras said: “I have spoken to Pierre Paganini, Roger’s trainer.

“He says Roger has a biological age of 36 but he has an athletic age of someone much younger than that.

“He also has the maturity of someone over 40 – this is a very special athlete.

“The way he’s going, I think he can get a couple more years.

“Only Roger knows and he says as long as Mirka is happy, his wife, I’ll continue.

“But without her it’s not going to happen. They really are a wonderful team.

“He’s alone on the court, yes, but he has tremendous support from family and friends.”
