High blood pressure diet: Using THIS unlikely oil in cooking could REDUCE your reading

High blood pressure is a growing problem in the UK, with 16 million people currently suffering.

Diet is a major risk factor, with eating lots of salty foods shown to increase risk.

However, consuming black seed oil may help lower elevated blood pressure.

It has been shown that taking black cumin seed extract for two months could reduce blood pressure readings in people whose blood pressure was slightly elevated.

Black seed oil is produced from black seeds from the fruits of a plant called nigella sativa.

The seeds have been used for healing and protection for thousands of years.

More recently black seed oil has been shown to have antioxidant properties which could reduce inflammation inside the body if consumed.

In addition to lowering high blood pressure, it can reduce risk of a heart attack.

It contains high levels of fatty acids such as linoleic acids and oleic acid which work to reduce high cholesterol.

Additionally, it could help relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and an upset tummy.

But black seed oil needn’t always be eaten for its multiple benefits.

Applied to the skin topically, research has shown it could help reduce acne.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery showed that it significantly reduced the incidence of the skin condition after just two months.

Similarly, black seed oil has also been found to help psoriasis, another skin condition.

It is also thought applying it to the skin may help ward off skin cancer.

However, it should not be used in place of sun protection or cancer treatments prescribed by a doctor.
