Call of Duty WW2 PS4 and Xbox One update as Sledgehammer reveal new XP shocker

Sledgehammer Games have announced something that is likely going to see player progression slowdown on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The studio’s chief operating officer, Michael condrey, just announced something rather unusual on Reddit.

According to the development team, Double XP has been active in-game since launch.

The new Call of Duty WW2 update was revealed after the studio announced its first bonus XP weekend.

However, it was noticed that leveling wasn’t really that different and it became clear something wasn’t right.

Soon after, Condrey released this statement on Reddit: “We launched with 2XP active, unintentionally.

“Everyone was getting 2XP since 11/3 and up until we made the playlist change late Thursday night, which effectively launched 3XP.

“Come Monday, when we turn off the XP bonus, it will effectively revert to what we should have had at launch (aka 1XP).

“So early players, you got a huge head start. PS. Positive intent is the spirit of life.”

So it’s great news if you’ve been grinding multiplayer from the start and not so good news if you’ve only just picked up the game.

As mentioned above, every player will see a drastic drop in leveling when the current bonus XP event ends on Monday.

The feedback from players has been swift, with many raising concerns on the difficulty of playing through a lower level of XP allowance.

“The last 3 or 4 levels have been taking a long time even with this so called “3xp”,” one fan wrote.

“If the XP rate is 1/3 of this then there’s no way I’ll keep trying to grind it out. It’d feel like spinning wheels in the mud.”

Sledgehammer recently launched a new update for PS4 and Xbox One and are hoping to launch the PC version in the next 48hrs.

There’s also new testing being done with bringing back dedicated server through the weekend, although the game will remain on P2P while this continues.

The PS4, Xbox One and PC shooter has been getting positive reviews from critics, and Call of Duty WW2 is going down a treat with fans also.

In the first three days since release Call of Duty WW2 has sold TWICE as many units as last year’s entry, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

Activision revealed that Call of Duty WW2 sold around £379 million in its first three days on sale across the globe.

Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision, said: “We challenged our players to get their squads back together and they answered the call, with the highest number of players we’ve ever seen on current gen consoles and PC.

“Call of Duty: WWII returns the franchise to its roots and the results are incredible, selling twice as many units in its opening weekend as last year, and setting the day one record for full-game downloads on PlayStation 4.

“Our $500 million opening weekend was not only bigger than Thor: Ragnarok’s, it was bigger than the opening weekends of both Thor and Wonder Woman combined.

“And we’re committed to supporting the community with continuous improvements and new content.”
