Marquez is 21 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso in the standings with just one race, in Valencia, to go.
Dovizioso’s only hope of taking the crown is by winning the race and Marquez finishing 12th or further back.
The omens aren’t good for the Italian – he has never won in Valencia for a start – but former British and World Superbike champion Hodgson insists the title race isn’t over.
He told BT Sport: “We are at round 18 and it could go either way.
“The 21 points isn’t enough, it has to be 25. In a season we’ve had so much drama, expect the unexpected
