Justice League reviews FIRST reactions: ‘AWESOME’ ‘Fans will go nuts’ ‘Batman is ‘DRUNK’?

The movie isn’t out until the end of next week. Official print reviews are still blocked until next thursday but the social media embargo was lifted at noon Eastern Standard Time in the US, which is 5pm in the UK today.

The overall reaction is hugely positive with praise for the fun tone and all the individual heroes.

One recurring criticism seems to centere on the disappointing weakness of the villain, with one fan comparing it to Marvel’s perennial issue with providing a credible and satisfying enemy.

The very first comment went up at noon and said: “Justice League is good! (And I can finally talk about it!). Wonder Woman is wonderful, Aquaman is surprisingly cool, Flash is hilarious, Batman is drunk, the story is coherent, and it’s all surprisingly funny. It’s not perfect, but really enjoyable!”

Another immediately added: “Justice League is the DC team up you’ve been waiting for. I had so much fun from beginning to end. The expansion of DC mythology will make fans go nuts. Superman though!”

The only criticism so far has been for Steppenwolf when one comentator said: “The flaws rest mainly on the rapid-fire pace, lack of suspense and a villain that fails on every level to be scary, formidable or memorable. Thankfully, the League does not fall in that category.”

Kevin McCarthy gave the most detai when he said: “Bottom line: JUSTICE LEAGUE is awesome! ZACK SNYDER’s film is filled with so many moments that had me geeking out and crying nerd tears. When an action scene/hero moment hits, the film is firing on all cylinders. Still love Affleck’s BATMAN. My fav Batman actor since Keaton.

“JUSTICE LEAGUE is ZACK SNYDER’s movie. With the exception of MAYBE ONE scene, the movie didn’t feel like it jumped in tone from Snyder to Whedon. I’ve seen it twice. Snyder’s presence is felt throughout ENTIRE film.

“As with Batman v Superman, I did have certain issues but they weren’t big enough to ruin my overall experience. I’ll expand more when I do my full review.

“Loved EZRA MILLER and JASON MOMOA. I love that each character has equally amazing hero moments. Well-balanced. Simple. Fun.”

Yet another positive review said: “Justice League is better than BvS and Suicide Squad – it’s lean, mean and packed with superhero action. I dug most of its lighter moments and I think it has one of the best action sequences ever in a DCEU movie. And of course Wonder Woman steals the show.”

Almost all of the comments indicate that the movie will be able to appeal to a broader audience than Batman V Superman thanks to its lighter tone.

One comment said: “JusticeLeague was good and very fun. It’s going to be popular with audiences, not only fans but mainstream viewers and families.”

Of course, die hard Zack Snyder or Joss Whedon fans will be looking for very different tings and it will be tough for any movie to please both camps.

Either way, with under a week to go until Justice League hits cinemas, fans will be dying to see it for themeselves and make up their own minds.
