FIFA 18 Path to Glory countdown: EA Sports launching new FUT event on PS4, Xbox One, PC

FIFA 18 fans are counting down to the start of a mysterious new FUT event.

EA Sports has announced plans to launch a brand new FIFA Ultimate Team event called Path to Glory.

The new FUT event starts later today, and while there’s no official start time, it’s likely to begin at around 6pm.

Details are thin on the ground, although based on a tweet by EA Sports, it will feature new Squad Building Challenges and Live Items.

“Brand new FUT event starts tomorrow! #FUT18 #PathToGlory #LiveItems #SBCs #GetReady.”

Some fans have speculated that it will tie in to the World Cup in Russia and qualifications.

The news comes as FIFA developer EA Sports makes a shock claim about the .

Judging by comments made by EA CEO Andrew Wilson, annual FIFA releases could become a thing of the past.

Wilson was asked if FIFA could adopt a new model similar to GTA Online, where updates are released instead of yearly releases.

“The short answer is yes,” he toldĀ Bloomberg. “There’s a few different things that have got to happen first.

“We do a lot in a FIFA game every year, and a lot in a Madden game. There’s a lot of code that we make available as part of the new iteration.”

Wilson said that the situation is different in Korea and China, where new code drops every four years.

He continued: “But when we look at what we do in Korea or China, we don’t do it that way.

“There, every four years we release a new big code drop, and we offer incremental change over time.

“So what we see in Korea and China, what we see on mobile, I think there’s a world where that might also happen in other parts of our business.”

It’s likely the new model will also apply to the Madden series.
