Avengers Infinity War trailer: THREE major reasons Marvel COULDN’T release it – Until NOW

Months ago Marvel shocked an entire audience when the studio screened a trailer for Avengers Infinity War at D23.

The Disney conference crowd went into a frenzy while the rest of the world gnashed its teeth, unable to see the first look at the hugely anticipated climax to every Marvel Cinematic Universe story so far.

Leaks and a very fuzzy pirate recording of the trailer have sketched out what was seen but there has been nothing since.

D23 took place way back in July so why has Marvel waited so long to officially release the trailer?

WARNING: MAJOR THOR RAGNAROK SPOILERS

Firstly it should be clarified that the D23 crowd was shown roughly assembled footage, not a slick finished trailer.

However, reports of scenes that were shown makes it clear now that it was impossible to release the footage online without giving away major spoilers for Thor Ragnarok.

Now that most of the world has seen the God of Thunder’s closing part of his own trilogy, three massive plot points have been revealed that will feature in Infinity War.

The first huge spoiler is related to Thor’s appearance.

The cutting of his famous flowing locks genereated huge attention in the build-up to the movie’s release, but this is someting far more drastic and powerful.

At the climax of Ragnarok Cate Blanchett’s Hela gouged out her brother’s eye. In the gladiator fight with Hulk, Thor’s eyes already glowed and channeled thunder and lightning, heralding his potential rebirth as Rune King Thor from the comics.

Whether he is one-eyed or has glowing eyes, this incarnation of Thor will clearly be critical to Infinity War and could not be revealed too early.

The second spoiler relates to Tor’s tricky brother.

At the climax of Ragnarok, Loki is in Odin’s vault to reincarnate Surtur. He is meant to be getting the demon’s helmet but lingers at the Tesseract. Shortly after, Asgard is utterly destroyed and it is unlikely that the Tesseract would just disappear.

While Loki is not shown picking it up, leaks from the D23 footage confirm that Loki now has the item otherwise known as the Space Stone.

This leads into the third terrifying fact.

The Thor Ragnarok end credit scene showing a huge ship appearing in front of Thor and Loki’s horrified gaze has been confirmed as a major link into Infinity War.

This is believed to be the arrival of Thanos himself. Either he sensed the Space Stone or Loki is playing every angle again and contacted his former ally and made a deal.

Either way, it looks very likely that Thanos could quickly possess the first of the Infinity Stones (or second, if certain rumours are to be believed).

Now that all these facts have been revealed into Thoir Ragnarok, surely nothing is stopping Marvel from releasing the Infinity War trailer very soon?
