Forget Call of Duty WW2 on PS4 and Xbox One, Zombies and Campaign are Steam delights

Following the launch of Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, things haven’t looked that healthy on PC.

The numbers of players on the Steam platform never seemed to be rise very high, and dropped significantly in 2017.

But things could be heading in a different direction with Call of Duty WW2.

It was recently revealed that the new WW2-era COD is selling better than Infinite Warfare, around 57 percent more copies have been sold so far.

It should also be noted that Infinite Warfare was down 48 percent in sales when compared to Black Ops 3, showing just what a recovery this year has proven to be.

And that also seems to be reflective of the Steam space, with concurrent numbers showing a big boost.

Steam user numbers show a 46,334 multiplayer peak over the last 24hrs, much higher than last year.

Put together with the Campaign numbers, it appears that around 68,000 have been enjoying the game at peak.

It’s hard to say if these numbers will remain high or slump like they did in 2016.

Looking at how things have moved so far, it would seem likely that numbers will probably higher for Call of Duty WW2, than for some of the most launches.

Call of Duty WW2 server issues could be a thing of the past thanks to Sledgehammer’s latest update.

COD fans endured a frustrating opening weekend, as connection issues took multiplayer down and prevented many from playing online.

Sledgehammer issued a number of fixes over the weekend, culminating in an update that appears to have solved the server problems.

The Call of Duty WW2 developer claims the problem was caused by the extremely high number of players attempting to login over the weekend.

“At launch, we experienced an extremely high volume of players connecting to our servers in a very short window,” Sledgehammer explained. “This resulted in players experiencing mixed online connectivity across all platforms.

“In response, we pushed a change enabling higher capacity load balancers, resulting in improved live connectivity.”

Reports of server problems have decreased since Sunday afternoon, so the fixes appear to have worked.

Call of Duty WW2 developer Sledgehammer has also reinstated Headquarters.

Sledgehammer deactivated leaderboards and made Headquarters a solo experience after a weekend of server issues.

“Headquarters will return to its fully-populated, shared experience shortly. In the meantime, you can invite your friends to join your HQ experience at any time.

“Also, rest assured, your leaderboard stats are being recorded and stored, and leaderboard data will be reflected soon.”

True to its word, Sledgehammer appears to have re-introduced Headquarters on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
