Virgin Media DOWN – HUNDREDS of customers hit by mobile network issues

UPDATE THREE: Virgin Media users have again flocked to social networking sites to report issues with the service.

Down Detector has again seen a second spike in Virgin Media customers reporting problems this afternoon.

The independent website has seen a second peak of some 1,355 users experiencing problems.

This comes after another outage earlier today which mainly affected users of the firm’s mobile network.  

UPDATE TWO: Virgin Media have said issues affecting users of their mobile network today have now been resolved.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “There was an issue impacting outbound calls for our mobile customers which has now been resolved.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

UPDATE ONE: Virgin Media customers are still reporting issues with the service almost an hour after problems with the mobile network first occured.

Down Detector has seen a surge of Virgin Media down reports this afternoon, with the outage tracker registering a peak of 1,436 reported issues.

Some Virgin Media customers also reported problems with their home broadband and TV services.

The outage is affecting Virgin Media users across the UK.

Independent website Down Detector has seen a surge of Virgin Media down reports this afternoon.

The outage monitor tracks social mentions around certain topics to detect when services go down across the world.

The Virgin Media problems appeared to begin around around midday in the UK.

Since then Down Detector has seen a peak of more than 1,000 Virgin Media users reporting issues with the service. 

Virgin Media has a Service Status website where you can check whether there are any issues in your area.

Amid the outage Virgin Media customers have been taking to Twitter to report issues with the service.

One customer tweeted: “@virginmedia something going on with phone signals again? Can’t use my phone unless in Wi-Fi. Seriously sort it out”.

While another posted: “Yet again @virginmedia mobile down again for calls. Getting a bit frequent this.”

And one added: “@virginmedia my phone cant make any calls help! I cant even ring customer line. It says services busy for each call!”.

Express.co.uk has contacted Virgin Media about today’s reported issues and if they have an estimated time for a fix.

According to the Down Detector outage map, Virgin Media customers across the UK have been affected by today’s service issues.

Those hit hardest are Virgin Media customers in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, among other areas.

Of those affected by today’s Virgin Media issues some 66 per cent are having trouble with their internet connection.

While 17 per cent are having no network or reception and 15 per cent are having issues with their phones in general.

It’s not the first time recently that Virgin Media customers have been hit by an outage.

In September who use PS4’s online gaming service PSN and are also Virgin Media customers experienced issues online.

Sony said, after investigation from their engineers, that the issue was a Virgin Media problem.

The issues affecting PSN and Virgin Media occured two days in a row.
