North Korea has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons to destroy America, however, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee warned the hermit nation will not get away with it.
Mr Huckabee hit out at former US President Barak Obama and claimed that Mr Trump is finally standing up to the “bully” that is North Korea.
Appearing on Fox News, Mr Huckabee said: “He is showing that the US is the friend. The friend that will stand up against the bully of North Korea and it will also stand up to China.
“That is not a message that is commonly heard by either North Korea or China, certainly not during the eight years of the Obama administration, when most of the time we were issuing apologies and we were back-pedalling.
“This is a strategically important trip. The message is not just to the North Koreans. The message is to our friends. We are with you.

“But it is also to those either direct adversaries or those that could be China and North Korea and say ‘Don’t mess with us’.

Donald Trump is currently on a trip to Asia in a bid to highlight his campaign and put pressure on North Korea to give up its nuclear and missile programmes.
In a direct warning to Kim Jong-un, Mr Trump said during a press conference in South Korea that he is prepared to “defend ourselves and our allies”.
North Korea has not conducted a missile test for 53 days, making it the longest such lull in testing this year.
The US President warned that North Korea is “a threat to people of South Korea and people all across the world”.
CIA chief Mike Pompeo said last week that North Korea could be only months away from gaining the ability to hit the United States with nuclear weapons.
