The US Navy has confirmed three US aircraft carriers, joined by guided missile destroyers and submarines, will carry out at a mock battle in the Pacific at the same time President Trump visits South Korea.
North Korea leader Kim, who is becoming increasingly isolated, is likely to see the move as a major provocation during the American leader’s five-nation Asia tour and has sparked fears bickering nations are on the brink of World War 3.
During a press conference in Seoul, President Donald Trump sent a direct warning to the despot regime, telling Kim he would be prepared to defend the US and its allies.
He said Pyongyang must understand the “unparalleled strength” that Washington had at its disposal.

The drill will involve the USS Nimitz, the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS Ronald Reagan.
It comes after a guided-missile submarine USS Michigan, armed with 154 Tomahawk cruise missies, made a port call in South Korea’s Busan last month.
North Korea officials have warned US presence in the peninsula could “ignite another Korean War”.
They told CNN: “Nobody knows when and how the war maniac Trump will ignite the wick of war.”
