Wright: Luiz will leave if Conte stays

07:45: David Luiz will leave Chelsea if Antonio Conte stays, according to BBC Sport pundit Ian Wright.

The Brazil international did not even make the bench during Sunday’s victory over Manchester United as Andreas Christensen was handed a start, with rumours of a rift with Conte being the reason for his omission circulating around social media.

And Wright can’t envisage Luiz being a part of Conte’s plans going forward if the Italian tactician is in West London come next season.

“By the time next season kicks off, I’m sure that either Antonio Conte or David Luiz will have left Chelsea,” Wright told The Sun.

“Personally, I don’t believe Conte will still be in West London this time next year — you can tell by his demeanour that something is wrong.

“I’d be happy to eat humble pie if I’m wrong — and there’s part of me that will be pleased if I am because I’ve a lot of respect for the guy.

Blues eyeing Diakhaby

07:40: Chelsea are showing an interest in Lyon’s Mouctar Diakhaby, the Daily Mail claim.

With Manchester City and Juventus already sending scouts to see the player in action in Ligue 1, Chelsea are said to be considering a move to strengthen the team’s defence.

Diakhaby, 20, impressed during Lyon’s two victories over Everton in the Europa League, and has been pivotal to their impressive Ligue 1 form.

Lampard considered to replace Michael Emenalo

07:35: Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is already being mooted as a potential successor to Michael Emenalo.

Emenalo, 52, cited family reasons for his decision to leave the Premier League champions after 10 years as technical director at Stamford Bridge.

In the short term, his right-hand woman Marina Granovskaia will take over his immediate duties but Chelsea are believed to be looking at a more direct replacement in due course, with Frank Lampard on the shortlist.

Sources at the club were yesterday questioning the former England star’s credentials for the role but there is a recognition that something is required to ease relations between manager and the owner.
