‘Totally unhinged’ billionaire launches campaign to impeach Donald Trump by funding advert

Tweeting in response to the US-wide ad campaign President Trump attacked the billionaire Tom Steyer who funded it.

He said: “Wacky and totally unhinged Tom Steyer, who has been fighting me and my Make America Great Again agenda from the beginning, never wins elections.”

The former hedge fund manager, who is thought to be worth more than the President, launched an ad calling on lawmakers to act now and “take a stand” to impeach President Trump.

Mr Steyer told the Guardian: “This campaign is a reflection of the fact that we are in a crisis and that is not how it’s represented in the press and that is not how it’s reflected in Washington.”

The advert will run in all 50 states in the US including a spot during Fox & Friends which is popular with the President and his supporters.

The ad campaign reportedly came with an eight-figure price tag and was accompanied by a petition that has already received 1.5million signatures.

Mr Steyer praised the President for responding to the campaign claiming it had raised the profile of the campaign.

He said: “I think the fact that he responded so defensively actually drew more attention to what we were trying to do.

“And to that, I say, ‘Thank you.’ If he wants to tweet angrily at us, we would encourage him to do that as much as I can.”

Mr Steyer appears in the political commercial personal to attack Trump and calls on Americans to put pressure on their elected officials to “stop doing what is political and start doing what is right”.

The video also claims the Trump has brought the world to the brink of nuclear war.

President Trump is due to visit South Korea tomorrow on the second leg of his Asia tour.

South Korea has targeted Kim Jong-un’s money men with unilateral sanctions the day before Trump arrives.
