WhatsApp DOWN – Chat app NOT WORKING for thousands of customers

Reports of problems connecting to the app are contuing to rise in the UK and across the globe. 

Over 3,000 Brits have reported issues with the messaging app and hundreds of people across the glove are also struggling to connect. 

The main problems users are experiencing is with connecting and sending or receiving messaging.

Users are experiencing problems with the app across the world with reports coming in from Italy, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Germany, India, USA an Sri Lanka. 

Express.co.uk contacted WhatsApp about the current outage.

is down for over a thousand of users in Britain right now, with reports increasing by the second that the app is broken. 

Independent website DownDetector, which tracks social comments around a certain topic to monitor outages across the globe, shows over a thousand of customers reporting issues using the app. 

According to the site, problems with the chat app occurred around 8am this morning, with hundreds of people reporting issues with the app. 

DownDetector says that 60 per cent of customers are having issue connecting to it.

A further 25 per cent report issues receiving messages and 14 per cent are struggling to login. 

WhatsApp users have taken to rival social networking site Twitter to report issues with the service today.

One user tweeted: “I’m such a cliche. Checking twitter to see if #whatsapp is down. It is.”

Another writes: “Whatsapp is down, whatsapp is down. This is not a drill. How can I demand constant attention from my friends now?!”

And one posted: “When Whatsapp isn’t working and you have to text someone and not know if they’ve looked at the message or not.”

This is not the first outage that WhatsApp has suffered this year.

The hugely-popular Facebook-owned chat app went offline for thousands of users back in May.

The outage lasted hours, with WhatsApp forced to issue a statement about the disruption to the service.

Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for the company said: “Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours.

“We have now fixed the issue and apologise for the inconvenience.”

WhatsApp also suffered another worldwide outage earlier this month, with hundreds of users affected.

WhatsApp was bought by Facebook for an eye-watering $19 billion (£13 billion) in February 2014.

The cross-platform messenger now boasts more than 1.2 billion users.

WhatsApp has steadily added a number of new features over the last year, including support for GIFs and FaceTime-style video calls.

This is not the first worldwide outage that WhatsApp has suffered this year.
