The Portuguese boss was in Madrid this morning after he was accused of evading tax for the years 2010 to 2013 when he was Real Madrid manager.
Jose Mourinho denied any wrongdoing and declared the case closed after leaving the trial this morning.
The former Madrid boss reached a settlement with Spanish tax authorities, agreeing to pay a €3.3million (£2.94m) tax debt.
“I left Spain in 2013 with the information and the conviction that my tax situation was perfectly legal,” Mourinho said after today’s hearing.
“A couple of years later I was informed that an investigation had been opened and I was told that in order to regularise my situation I had to pay X amount of money.
“I did not answer, I did not argue. I paid and signed with the state that I am in compliance and the case is closed.”
Mourinho is now back in Manchester and is due to hold a training session this afternoon/evening ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
The Portuguese already had to bring his pre-match press conference forward 24 hours by undergoing his media duties yesterday instead of today so he could attend his hearing in Spain.
But Mourinho insists the tax fraud allegations have not affected his team’s preparations.
“No,” he told reporters when he faced the media on Thursday.
“It’s just a change of normal training time because I want to be there and I can’t be there in the morning, so I have to change the timings.”
Manchester United go into Sunday’s match against the Blues four points ahead of Chelsea.
