Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp SLAMS Gareth Southgate: He should have watched us play

Liverpool have recently secured a return to winning ways with back to back wins against Huddersfield and Maribor.

During that time England trio Joe Gomez, Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all returned to form.

However, the Reds trio have been omitted from the latest England squad with Gareth Southgate springing several surprises with his latest selection.

And Klopp has taken aim at the 47-year-old, saying he had clearly not watched their last three games – including the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham at Wembley.

“If Gareth Southgate had seen our last three games he could have invited all three of them (Gomez, Sturridge and Oxlade-Chamberlain),” he told reporters.

“Daniel had injury problems but they always called him up before, If he doesn’t think he needs him I can’t change that.”

Meanwhile, Klopp also confirmed that Nathaniel Clyne had experienced another injury setback.

“We are on it. We’ve sent him to specialists all over world,” he added.

“It just needs time.”

Liverpool go up against West Ham tomorrow aiming to close the gap on Chelsea in fourth.

And Klopp wants his team not to understimate the Hammers, who have won just two league games so far.

“They were really good against Tottenham. We respect them a lot,” he said.

“They will be highly motivated.

“If you want to be really successful you can’t fly to other cities and leave the points there.”
