Blizzcon 2017 Opening Ceremony: Overwatch, WoW and Hearthstone news LIVE

The Blizzcon 2017 Opening Ceremony is scheduled for today and will be available to watch live on the official Blizzcon site and Blizzcon mobile App.

The event is also usually available to watch on Blizzard’s Twitch channel, although the rest of the panels will require a Virtual Ticket.

This year, the Opening Ceremony will be presented LIVE on three different stages, with developers on the Mythic Stage, Overwatch Arena, and Hearthstone Tournament Stage.

The presentations will also be simulcast at locations throughout the convention centre.

Those attending the Anaheim event can head to any one of these areas to grab a spot for the big announcements at BlizzCon 2017.

The Blizzcon Opening Ceremony will kick off at around 6pm GMT, with a series of pre-show videos available to watch ahead of time on www.blizzcon.com/watch.

“The community is the heart of Blizzard’s games, and BlizzCon is our favorite way to connect directly with our players and geek out over the things we’re passionate about,” said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment cofounder.

“We’ve worked hard to make this our biggest and best BlizzCon yet, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone this Friday.”

When it comes to rumours, it’s been reported that Blizzard could reveal more Blizzcon 2017 Overwatch maps and perhaps even a new character.

However, the big news of Blizzcon 2017 could be centered around World of Warcraft.

There have been rumours that a new WoW expansion is going to be revealed by Blizzard onstage tomorrow.

Recent datamining efforts appear to have confirmed that new content is being worked on, which could include Jaina Proudmoore and the pirate city of Kul Tiras.

The next Hearthstone expansion is also set to be announced, Blizzard have confirmed this already but have not revealed what the subject will be.

It’s likely that will get a lot of basic information during the Opening Ceremony, followed by more in-depth reveals during the various planned panels.

“The thrill of esports competition during Opening Week will once again set the stage for championship celebrations at BlizzCon in Anaheim, and watching every game of every match will be easier than ever in 2017,” Blizzard explains.

“Fans can keep it locked to blizzcon.com and catch all of the esports action without buying the Virtual Ticket or head over to Twitch or MLG.tv to find a dedicated channel for your favorite esports event.

“The Virtual Ticket is a great way to get all of the streamed content BlizzCon has to offer before, during, and after the big show. Esports fans will get an enhanced viewing experience, with no third-party commercials, while cheering for their favorite players and teams.

“The Virtual Ticket package includes the BlizzCon All Access Channel that will offer live updates throughout the event, including breaking news and exciting moments from the esports stages.

“The schedule is set and Heroes Global Championship (HGC), StarCraft II (WCS), and the WoW Arena Championship esports events kickoff the festivities beginning with Opening Week. Those competitions will come to their epic, championship conclusions on a BlizzCon stage in Anaheim, along with exciting finales for the Overwatch World Cup and the Hearthstone Inn-vitational.”
