Who or what is Rey?
All the new trailers, teasers and promo materials are making the tantalising wait unbearable.
A new plot summary on the official Japanese Star Wars website, however, has given the most explicit revelation yet about just how close Rey already is to the Dark Side.
Is Rey, not Kylo Ren, going to become the true villain of the new trilogy? She says “something” has awakened inside her, what if it is evil?
The website says: “The Light, the Darkness. Rey and Kylo Ren – two people who seem to move between the two.
“A new shocking development is hinted to await them in Star Wars: The Last Jedi…. What awaits Rey and Kylo Ren is the question of ‘The Light or the Darkness?’ as together they are tossed and moved by the powerful Force.
“Rey who awakens the Force in the previous film, carries a sense of being lost and unsure. Will she be taken away by the Darkness.”
This confirms that Rey is already moving between the Dark and Light sides s all the promotional material increasingly points to Rey being drawn towards the Dark Side.
Luke’s fear is evident as he witnesses he raw display of power and says: “I’ve seen this raw strength only once before. It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”
Luke clearly knows that such power can only presage terrible and dark dangers.

Rey herself has said: “I felt something… it awakened, but now I need to know how to wield it.”
She never actually clarifies that it is the Light and indeed whe she is asked what she sees, she replies: ” Light. Darkness. A balance.”
The entire franchise has been about restoring balance to the Force. It increasingly seems that the only way for this to happen will be if a Force user embraces both sides.
If that is to be Rey, she will have no choice but to touch the Dark Side.
