Manchester City news: David Silva has 2020 City vision

The Spain international’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and there was talk that he may return to his homeland.

However, the 31-year-old, who joined City in 2010, has reassured fans that he wants to remain in Manchester.

Silva today confirmed that he is still in discussions over a contract extension with the Blues, and he wants to stay with the club until at least 2020.

“We’re still talking,” Silva said.

“I hope I can sign soon because I would love to be here playing for City for 10 years.

“We are playing really good football; beautiful football.

“We are playing well in all the lines. From the goalkeeper on, you can see it in every game.”

Silva was speaking ahead of City’s Champions League match with Napoli tomorrow (7.45pm).

Three points will guarantee Pep Guardiola’s side a place in the knockout stages.

And Silva says it would be a dream come true to win the competition with City.

“I pray every night to win the Champions League with City,” Silva added.

“Hopefully we can win this year. It would be amazing.

“Napoli is a really good team. We have to try tomorrow to keep the high intensity, that is how we win the game.

“I think this is a good position for me. I love to play in the middle, to be in contact with the ball all the time.”
