Chelsea news: Frank Lampard reckons he knows what Chelsea stars think about Antonio Conte

Conte last week caused a stir where he had admitted that things at Chelsea were far from rosy.

At the time, the Blues had just beaten Watford but were still reeling from defeats against Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

Conte said that he was finding things difficult, which led to some fans to claim that the Italian was losing confidence in the current crop of players at his disposal.

But Chelsea legend Lampard thinks the squad will have no issue with the former Juventus boss being so vocal about his unhappiness.

“When Antonio Conte spoke out in angry fashion last week, it showed a man in charge of things at Chelsea, not crumbling under the strain,” he told the Evening Standard.

“A lot was made of his comments about the speculation going on at Stamford Bridge but I could understand why he spoke out and the players will, too.

“I don’t think it is a bad thing that he showed his emotions. He is pretty cool headed most of the time. But sometimes if you have to say something, you should say it as a manager.

“As a player I would be happy with the idea of Conte defending himself and the team as a whole. I would appreciate him nipping it in the bud.”

Meanwhile, speaking earlier this month, former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri claimed that Conte was unhappy with the transfer business the Blues conducted back in the summer.

“The Premier League remains the best and I have not been convinced of Conte’s desire to return home,” he said.

“Maybe he was expecting a different transfer window but for a few years, Abramovich has not paid crazy prices.

“Manchester City and Manchester United on the other hand have made big buys so I can imagine that for Antonio to fight on more fronts with the same players is more tiring.”
