The Last of Us 2 UPDATE – Brand new PS4 trailer revealed at Paris Games Week, WATCH here

fans were treated to a brand new trailer for at Paris Games Week 2017 today, with a fresh glimpse into the horrifying post-apocalyptic world its set in.

Joel and Ellie did not make an appearance in the new Last of Us 2 trailer, with it instead being a slow-burner focusing on other characters.

The trailer begins with a woman being dragged through a rainy, muddy wood to what appears her upcoming death.

She’s strung up, hung from a tree and threatened with a knife before another kidnapped woman is brutally attacked with a hammer.

A young boy armed with a bow attacks, saving the both of them.

Only in the dying few moments of the trailer does it become clear that this is a new tease for The Last Of Us Part 2.

As the trailer draws to a close, the iconic enemies from the Last of Us – the Clickers – suddenly appear ready to attack.

The Last of Us 2 new trailer was shown right at the end of Sony’s PGW 2017 conference, and has been published on their social and media channels including YouTube.

It’s the first appearance of The Last of Part 2 since PlayStation Experience in December 2016, where the Naughty Dog title was first unveiled.

The Last of Part 2 is the sequel to the criticially acclaimed PS3 and PS4 exclusive, set in a world ravaged by a disease which turns humans into cannibalistic monsters.

The Last of Part 2 capped off a hugely impressive showing from Sony at Paris Games Week 2017.

Other games showcased include Sucker Punch’s new title Ghost of Tsushima, Far Cry 5 and the first look at Destiny 2 DLC Curse of Osiris.

It had been hoped that The Last of Us Part 2 would have made an appearance earlier this year, at E3 2017 back in June.

However that gaming extravaganza came and went without no word on Last of Us 2.

And it looks like Sony have been saving up an announcement on it to end 2017 on a high, and get fans excited about what’s in store for PlayStation next year.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida previously said Sony chose not to reveal some triple AAA games at E3 2017 as they were saving them for later.

Speaking in June, he said: “There are things we have held [back], Yoshida said. “We chose not to show those at E3 2017, but there will be some more news coming out from our teams later this year.

“No question.”

And with PlayStation Experience around the corner in December, it raises hopes that Sony could have even more big announcements up its sleeve.
