SNES Classic Mini UPDATE: Super Nintendo stock news following PS4 and Switch boost

SNES Classic Mini stock has been pretty scarce in recent weeks for fans looking to track down the popular Super Nintendo console.

The problem has been felt in both North America and the UK, with

Limited supply is being felt both in North America and in the UK, with retailers only able to provide sporadic stock updates.

But there has been new news this week that will have fans hoping that more regular stock announcements will be arriving soon.

Today saw The GAME website get more SNES Classic Mini stock.

SNES Classic Mini stock became available to buy on the GAME website about 7.50am, but sold out in less than 10 minutes.

It’s the latest in a long line of times that GAME have opened orders for the SNS Classic Mini since launch.

GAME appears to be the retailer in the UK getting SNES Mini restocks most often, so keep an eye on their website for any more incoming stock.

In the US, Toys R Us have said that they have SNES Classic Mini stock available to buy today.

A spokesperson for the retailer told Polygon that Toys R Us stores will have a limited amount of SNES Classic Mini stock available today.

The Toys R Us spokesperson said: “Since quantities are limited, we encourage customers to get in line before doors open (normal/local time) on Friday morning for a chance to purchase.”

A GameStop spokesperson also said that their stores will be receiving a limited supply of the SNES Classic Mini over the next two weeks.

They said arrival dates will vary between stores, so keep a close eye online for any updates on when your local store will be getting more stock.

And for anyone who is in any doubt how popular the SNES Classic Mini has been, new information this week will make for interesting reading.

New NPD results are in and reveal just how fruitful it can be for Nintendo to have a better level of stock in its release month.

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has confirmed that the Super Nintendo was the highest selling hardware platform in September.

To put that into perspective, it means that the little retro console with limited stock managed to beat the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One in the United States.

“SNES Classic was the overall top unit selling hardware platform in the period,” Piscatella revealed.

“PS4 led all HW platforms in consumer spend during Sept 2017, while Switch sold the most units amongst the current generation consoles.

“HW spending in Sept 2017 grew 34% versus YA to $316m. Spending growth was driven by Switch, SNES Classic and PlayStation 4.

“Sony’s PlayStation 4 remains the best selling hardware platform year to date.”

And its likely it could have done even better if Nintendo had more stock available for the September release.
