Philippe Coutinho injury: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp offers update ahead of Huddersfield

Reports this lunchtime suggested Klopp will be without the Brazilian for tomorrow’s 12.30pm showdown with Huddersfield due to a groin injury.

And that news would have come as a huge blow given Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana are also set to sit out the game.

Klopp has provided the latest on Coutinho’s fitness ahead of his encounter with old pal David Wagner at Anfield.

And it’s positive news given a number of newspapers and well-respected journalists had entirely ruled the playmaker out of contention for the game.

Klopp said: “It’s not clear.

“This week there’s been an issue with the abductor [groin muscle] but not clear yet whether he’s out on Saturday.”

Liverpool are ninth going into their clash with Huddersfield having collected 13 points from nine games.

They can move as high as fourth in the Premier League providing they beat Huddersfield and results elsewhere go their way.

Liverpool return to Champions League action when Maribor visit Merseyside next Wednesday.

The Reds ran out comfortable 7-0 winners when they faced the Slovenian minnows earlier this month.
