Leeds 0 Sheffield United 1 LIVE: Championship goal updates; Billy Sharp fires Blades ahead

Leeds vs Sheffield United LIVE: Express Sport bring you goal updates and team news from Elland Road.

10: CHANCE!

It should be 2-0 to Sheffield United.

Billy Sharp finds Mark Duffy in the box, who floats a left-footed cross into the six-yard box for Leon Clarke. The big striker manages to flick the ball on but it trickles past the post.

7: OOPS!

Nearly a horror moment for Leeds keeper Andy Lonergan!

He dithers on the ball and Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke nips in to nick the ball.

Clarke plays it back to Billy Sharp but the linesman raises his flag (despite him not being offside…)

2: GOAL!

Former Leeds striker Billy Sharp heads Sheffield United ahead!

Mark Duffy picks up the ball on the right-hand side of the box and delivers a clever cross for Sharp, who is free at the back post to head past Andy Lonergan!

What a start for the Blades!

1: PEEP! Leeds kick off the Yorkshire derby!

7.45pm: The two teams are out on the pitch, they’ve been through their pre-match routines. It’s time to get this game underway!

7.40pm: I’m going to stick my neck out on the line here and predict a win for Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder’s side have been impressive this season and they’ve made the most of the momentum gained from winning League One last term.

Meanwhile, Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is speaking to the Elland Road crowd about young fan Toby Nye, who suffers from high-risk neuroblastoma.

7.35pm: Leeds midfielder Ronaldo Vieira is confident of securing all three points.

“They have done unbelievable but it’s just another team for us to go and get three points,” Vieira said.

“If we do the things right we will get the three points. Sheffield United have been great to be honest but so were Bristol City and we went there and won.”

7.30pm: Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp is desperate to impress in front of his former club.

Sharp endured a miserable season at Elland Road, scoring just five goals for the Whites.

He has been in red-hot form for the Blades since returning to Bramall Lane.

Sharp said: “I’m a Sheffield United player now, it’s my job and I will celebrate. As long as it’s a goal that puts us in front!”

7.25pm: “Who are the favourites?” I hear you asking.

Well, here are the odds (courtesy of Betsafe).

Leeds – 4/3

Draw – 23/10

Sheffield Utd – 11/5

: How to watch the Yorkshire derby

7.20pm: Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has been attracting plaudits for his work at Bramall Lane and midfielder Paul Coutts is a big fan.

“The manager has played a huge role in bringing everyone together and getting the fans back on board,” Coutts said. “The year under Nigel Adkins was tough. There was so much discontent everywhere it was hard to go and perform on a Saturday.

“Chris Wilder has changed the whole outlook. The place is buzzing. It’s simple. Every day we come into training and work really hard – we put it all in because he demands that.”

7.15pm: Samuel Saiz could be a key man for Leeds tonight.

The Spaniard, signed from Huesca in the summer, has scored 15 goals in his last 25 games.

He’s got a foot like a traction engine!

7.10pm: Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen believes defeat tonight would be devastating for his side.

“We have a direct opponent who are in the top six,” he said. “If we lose we will be seven points away from Sheffield United. At this point of the league, that’s too many points.”

7.05pm: Andy Hinchcliffe believes Pierre-Michel Lasogga is the key man for Leeds.

The German striker was signed on loan to replace Chris Wood.

He has scored four goals for the Whites.

7.00pm: Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews believes both sides are doing well this term.

“I think both sides are just a bit ahead of schedule,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Leeds midfielder Michael Brown believes the team’s good start could come back to haunt them.

He said: “I think they hit the highs very, very early.”

6.55pm: David Prutton has a great reason for urging you to follow tonight’s game – there will be goals!

“What a game we have in store on Friday night,” the former Leeds midfielder told Sky Sports

“Leeds should be feeling confident again after winning at Bristol City last week, and that should have helped ease the tension among the home fans ahead of this game.

“Sheffield United could go top with a victory, and you don’t doubt now that Chris Wilder will go there to win the game.

“It should be open, entertaining and high scoring, but I can’t separate them.”

6.50pm: Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen makes one change from the XI that beat Bristol City last Saturday.

Vurnon Anita replaces Gaetano Berardi at left-back.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder names an unchanged team.

Leeds: Lonergan, Ayling, Pennington, Cooper, Anita, Phillips, O’Kane, Vieira, Saiz, Alioski, Lasogga

Subs: Wiedwald, Shaughnessy, Jansson, Roofe, Dallas, Hernandez, Grot

Sheffield United: Blackman, Baldock, Carter-Vickers, O’Connell, Stevens, Basham, Coutts, Duffy, Fleck, Clarke, Sharp

Subs: Moore, Lundstram, Donaldson, Wright, Lafferty, Brooks, Carruthers

There is plenty at stake in tonight’s Yorkshire derby.

Sheffield United will go top of the Championship table if they secure all three points.
