Apple has kickstarted pre-orders for (it’s pronounced ‘iPhone Ten’).

The latest Apple smartphone represents a dramatic shift in design for the best-selling smartphone range, which first launched 10 years ago.

took the wraps off its new flagship phone during its exclusive media event at the Steve Jobs Theatre in September.

The Cupertino-based company said this new iPhone would “set the path for technology for the next decade”.

“It is the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone,” during the launch event.

The iPhone X includes a new 5.8inch edge-to-edge OLED multi-touch display, water resistant design, and improved dual camera set-up with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) on both lens.

iPhone X’s OLED display also supports 3D Touch – Apple’s pressure-sensitive screen technology – as well as True Tone, which seamlessly adapts the temperature of the display to the ambient light.

Like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus before it, iPhone X is water and dust resistant, rated IP67.

The new smartphone unlocks and authenticates payments via Face ID – a new depth-sensing face scanning technology.

iPhone X is available in two colours: Space Grey and Silver.

Apple will charge £999 for the entry-level iPhone X model, which ships with 64GB of storage built-in. The top-of-the-line model packs 256GB of storage and costs £1,149.

Following today, shipping dates on Apple Store have started to slip past the launch day, Friday November 3rd.

Apple is currently estimating a four to five week wait for both the Silver and Space Grey models.

However, the US technology company has confirmed that it will have some stock available on launch day in its brick-and-mortar stores.

In a statement, Apple said: “iPhone X will be available in more than 55 countries and territories, and in Apple Stores beginning Friday, November 3 at 8:00 a.m. local time.

“Stores will have iPhone X available for walk-in customers, who are encouraged to arrive early”

Apple did not reveal how many units would be available, but the fact that it has advised people to “arrive early” is an indicator that stock will be limited.
