Rockstar news: GTA 5 DLC and Online update, LA Noire 4K Xbox One X footage

New LA Noire 4K footage has been released this week, ahead of the game’s launch on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

As you might already know, there will be four new editions launched of the game this year, including for current consoles, as well as a new VR experience for HTC Vive.

LA Noire is scheduled to release on November 14, 2017 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, which will also include 4K support.

While the VR version won’t include the full game; L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for HTC Vive, will instead feature seven select cases rebuilt for VR.

The new LA Noire 4K trailer was released today, with the official Xbox account confirming that the footage had been recorded on an Xbox One X.

A nice boost before its release next month.

As mentioned above, Rockstar Games is also bringing LA Noire to Nintendo Switch on 14th November, including all of its downloadable content, new collectibles, detective suits with special abilities, a Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic gesture-based controls, new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, and intuitive touch-screen controls for portable detective work.

New details on the forgotten GTA 5 DLC has come to light this week, including the disappointing news that will never see extra content created.

Rockstar’s director of design Imran Sarwar revealed the news this week, confirming that GTA 5 Online support, the Red Dead Redemption 2 project and porting to PS4, PC and Xbox One helped to sap any chances of new DLC adventure being produced.

It should be noted that Rockstar did originally tease new GTA 5 DLC following its release on Xbox 360 and PS3.

“As a company we love single player more than anything, and believe in it absolutely—for storytelling and a sense of immersion in a world, multiplayer games don’t rival single player games,” Sarwar told Game Informer.

“With GTA 5, the single player game was absolutely massive and very, very complete. It was three games in one.

“The next-gen versions took a year of everyone’s time to get right, then the online component had a lot of potential, but to come close to realizing that potential also sucked up a lot of resources. And then there are other games—in particular Red Dead Redemption 2.

“The combination of these three factors means for this game, we did not feel single player expansions were either possible or necessary, but we may well do them for future projects.

“At Rockstar, we will always have bandwidth issues because we are perfectionists and to make huge complex games takes a lot of time and resources. Not everything is always possible, but we still love single player open-world games more than anything.”

Sarwar also confirmed that with the launch of Red Dead Red Redemption 2, GTA 5 Online update would become less frequent.

“One of the enjoyable things about working on a project like this is that you can iterate quickly,”Sarwar added.

“And change and evolve plans fairly quickly too, so we don’t have to be as clear in our plans as with other projects.”

GTA 5 Online continues to sell well, with new online content added regularly since the game’s original launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a Spring 2018 release window attached, meaning that Rockstar still has plenty of time to create new content to keep the popular game mode going.
