World War 3: North Korea electromagnetic attack could ‘DECIMATE’ 90 per cent of the US

A new congressional report has stated that an EMP attack would decimate America by targeting a key pillar of infrastructure, technology.

Peter Vincent Pry, a nuclear strategist and formerly of the CIA, said: “The US can sustain a population of 320million people only because of modern technology.

“An EMP that blacks-out the electric grid for a year would decimate the critical infrastructure necessary to support such a large population.”

Mr Pry stated that up to 90 per cent of the US population could be wiped out thanks to starvation, disease and societal collapse.

The strategist claimed that once the US is hit, food supplies would be consumed within three days and that food in warehouses would begin to degrade.

He added: “Food supply in local grocery stores would be consumed and the 30-day national food supply in regional warehouses would begin to spoil.”

The 5,000 planes constantly flying over the US would be the biggest casualty of the EMP blast that could wipe out 500,000 passengers instantaneously.

The bleak picture by the nuclear expert was made worse by his prediction that US nuclear plants would melt down in a week, causing radioactive destruction across the country.

Gas systems would also spark, causing fires in forests and cities set to wipe out further Americans.

However, not all US experts believe the rogue nation poses as great a threat as the nuclear expert describes.

James Clay Moltz, a professor of national security at the Naval Postgraduate School in California, claimed: “Predictions of mass US casualties and demands for costly defences against a North Korean EMP attack seem unjustified at this time.”

Despot leader Kim Jong-un is attempting to arm himself to the teeth as his threats of world annihilation continue.

The isolationist nation recently declared that it has developed thermo-nuclear weapons that, when detonated at a high enough altitude, would have the effects of an EMP blast.

The news of the potential destruction of a North Korean attack comes as it was recently claimed that the US has “no coherent plan” to deal with North Korea as World War 3 tensions reach critical levels.

John Dunn, a political scientist from King’s College Cambridge, has called out the US for lacking a strategy to deal with the rogue nation as it continues its quest for nuclear arms.

He said: “It is very bad for any American presidency to have any other country that doesn’t have any other clear and mutual understanding about nuclear weapons to be in a position, in principle to attack the United States.

“The United States has no coherent plan for what to do about North Korea.”

Mr Dunn also said: “It is actually difficult to know what to do with the rogue nuclear state, which has new ways to secure the continuation of its political safety.”

The political scientist added that Kim Jong-un’s regime may currently have the power to strike Los Angeles with a nuclear strike but the US would “heavily attack North Korea and that will be the end of the regime” as a result.

However, the news of a potential EMP blast would have the power to cripple the US technologies, potentially limiting the effectiveness of a counterattack from Washington.
