Swansea vs Man Utd: Jose Mourinho gives Phil Jones injury update ahead of Tottenham clash

United booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after a 2-0 win away to Swansea last night.

While the Red Devils weren’t at their best, a was enough to ensure their progress into the next round of the competition.

Mourinho made seven changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Huddersfield on Saturday for the trip to south Wales.

Jones, who came off in the defeat against the Terriers, was an unused substitute for the victory at the Liberty Stadium.

When questioned whether the England international will be available to face Spurs on Saturday (12.30pm), Mourinho said: “I believe that Phil [Jones] will be fit for Saturday against Tottenham, but apart from that I have no news.”

Discussing the overall performance, Mourinho added: “We were in the game from the first minutes, pressing and forcing things, the attitude was good.

“Scott McTominay did very well, strong in the midfield.

“Axel Tuanzebe started maybe a little shaky, but then we got stability and he came into it.

“There were no injuries either, so it is a good day.”

After the visit of Tottenham, United host Benfica in the Champions League (7.45pm).
