Super Mario Odyssey NEWS: Nintendo Switch owners can download TODAY

Super Mario Odyssey fans can download the game right now, as pre-orders go live on the  eShop.

With the Super Mario Odyssey release date just two days away, fans can pre-load the game to guarantee they receive it at launch.

The option to pre-order the game now appears on the Switch eShop and the Nintendo website.

After pre-ordering Super Mario Odyssey – which carries a £49.99 price tag – fans can then pre-load the game ahead of its October 27 release date.

The functionality was made available as part of the most recent Nintendo Switch update, which also added video capture support.

The update also includes a Super Mario Odyssey icon or two for the Nintendo Switch profile page.

The news comes as fresh details emerge from the near-perfect  issued by Famitsu.

The game received three perfect 10/10 scores and one 9/10 score from the Famitsu reviewers.

According to Nintendo Everything, the first 10/10 reviewer liked the fresh capture abilities, the Joy-Con controls and the way each stage is full of discoveries and surprise.

The second 10/10 review also praised the capture abilities, as well as the huge number of secrets and surprises that makes it worth exploring every corner of each stage.

This was echoed by the third person to award it a perfect 10/10. The critic praises the map design and the excellent way it balances comfort and originality.

The reviewer with the 9/10 score describes the 2D sections as original, and likes the way fans can keep playing thanks to features that are unlocked after clearing the game.

With the release date pencilled in for October 27, fans have discovered a hidden surprise in the boxed version of the game.

The boxed version of Super Mario Odyssey contains the lyrics to the game’s ‘Jump Up, Super Star’ theme song.

And that’s just one of many surprises in store for Super Mario fans this week.

The game also contains classic 2D platforming sections, and appearances from legendary characters such as Pauline.
