Windows 10 Fall Creators Update ALERT – Free download brings BIG problem to users

The has been out for a week now, with users of the flagship Microsoft OS in the process of getting the free download.

The Fall Creators Update is being rolled out progressively, which means some users of are getting notifications to automatically update earlier than others.

For those who haven’t received a notification that their update is ready, they can instead update via Microsoft’s Software Download site from day one.

But this is something that Microsoft only recommends for “advanced” users.

However, Windows 10 fans that have not yet updated to the Fall Creators Update may want to hold out for a little while longer.

Some PC users who have downloaded the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update have reported an issue with apps disappearing from menus.

Those affected by the problem said some icons used to launch apps have gone missing from the Start menu since they downloaded the latest Windows 10 update.

They added that these icons cannot be found on the Windows 10 list of installed apps and a Cortana search won’t locate them either.

However, the software is still installed on the affected user’s PC.

This can be verified by checking the Microsoft Store to confirm whether the apps are installed or not, according to TechRadar.

The issue has affected core Windows 10 apps such as Movies & TV, Groove Music and Calculator.

In some cases the Microsoft Store app itself has disappeared for Windows 10 users.

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update issue was raised on the Microsoft Community page.

Jestoni Mac, a user affected by the issue, wrote: “After installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, some apps are missing from the Start Menu on some devices.

“The missing apps are no longer pinned in the Start Menu, nor are they in the list of apps.

“If I search for the app, Cortana is not able to find it and instead points me to the Store to install it.

“But the Store says that the app is already installed.”

A Microsoft rep replied to the Windows 10 user and said they are “investigating reports of missing apps after installing the Fall Creators Update”.

They suggested a number of workarounds to try and fix the missing apps issue with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

The suggested fixes include repairing the missing apps, reinstalling them, reverting back to a previous version of Windows or re-registering the missing apps using PowerShell.

The news comes after Windows 10 users who own a popular brand of laptop were advised to avoid the Fall Creators Update free download.

There have been multiple reports from users of the Razer gaming laptops who experienced issues with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

Posts on the Razer forums claimed some Razer laptop models were not fully compatible with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

One forum user, called Kokorone, claimed their notebook would not recognise any peripherals after installing the Windows 10 free update.

They claimed that even the built-in keyboard and trackpad would not work until they rebooted their Windows 10 laptop.

Microsoft and Razer both said they were aware of the issues and were working together to fix the Fall Creators Update problem.
