Rainbow Six Siege DOWN – Server maintenance hits PS4, Xbox One and PC game

Rainbow Six Siege is down with the PS4, Xbox One and PC game taken offline as  server maintenance takes place.

Ubisoft are carrying out server maintenance on Rainbow Six Siege for two hours today.

Rainbow Six Siege will be down between 9am EDT and 11am, which is 2pm and 4pm BST.

In a post on Reddit, the Rainbow Six Siege team outlined why the servers are going down.

They said: “During this maintenance, we will be moving the platform that handles the inventory and store to a cloud service.

vCard QR Code

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

“This platform also handles all purchases that you make in game, including currency purchases. We have made the decision to shift to cloud hosting to improve the stability and reliability of the service.

“The process of transferring our entire database to the cloud does not come without risk. We have tested this process internally, and we are ready to make the change on the live infrastructure.”

Ubisoft also tried to reassure fans about whether any Rainbow Six Siege player data could be affected by the change.

The Rainbow Six Siege team said: “That being said, steps were taken to mitigate the impact of potential complications. We will save a copy of the entire database prior to the maintenance, and will roll back to that in the event of an issue.

“There will not be a risk of permanently losing any player data.”

The news comes after it was revealed a new Rainbow Six Siege operators update is being planned by Ubisoft.

As with all R6 Seasons, a new reinforcements update is being planned for Blood Orchid.

The game’s community manager, Matthew Szep, said the new reinforcements are on schedule to arrive imminently.

This will likely focus on key balancing issues for Rainbow Six Siege operators, as well as trying to curtail some of the game’s more serious bugs.

Ubisoft have yet to confirm which operators could be in their scope this time round, although more is expected to be announced soon.

What they have done is reveal some of their bug-fixing plans, which include tackling server latency.

Ghosting has become a problem in R6 and is something that the development team are hoping to make less dramatic.

Ubisoft have a whole list of tweaks they are getting ready to deploy, however, they have warned that most will result in a less comfortable experience for high ping players, something that Ubi are doing consciously, and believe it to be in the best interest of the game as a whole.
