Google Pixel 2 XL display is plagued with problems

can’t catch a break with its new flagship Pixel 2 XL smartphone.

The new handset has been plagued with complaints around the pOLED display, which is manufactured by LG.

Express.co.uk noticed some problems with the pOLED display , including washed-out colours, a blue hue when viewed at an angle, and a grainy texture that appears on bright uniform backgrounds.

Others have started to notice burn-in on the Pixel 2 XL, this is the term used to describe when a screen is permanently marked by shapes that have been displayed on that screen for an extended period of time.

Burn-in is typically a problem associated with older displays. And should not happen with the first few weeks of a flagship smartphone launch.

On the Pixel 2 XL, the problem appears to originate with the on-screen navigation bar, which sits at the bottom of the display almost the entire time the phone is in use.

Google has confirmed it is investigating the issue, which it takes “very seriously”.

Vice President for Pixel, Mario Queiroz told the BBC: “We take all reports of issues very seriously, and our engineers investigate quickly.

“We will provide updates as soon as we have conclusive data.”

The problem was first reported by Alex Dobie of Android Central.

His photograph shows the faint outlines of the navigation bar – as well as the individual buttons, after a week of use.

The news comes as a popular YouTube channel appeared to highlight .

YouTube creator JerryRigEverything managed to bend the second-generation Google-branded smartphone in his infamous durability test.

The iPhone 6 Plus failed the same test, triggering the so-called #BendGate.

According to JerryRigEverything, the split occurs along the antenna band, which he believes has been placed at one of the most structurally weak points of the Pixel 2.

Applying enough stress close to that line will lead to catastrophic damage to the device.
