Galaxy S9 could fix the WORST thing about the Samsung Galaxy S8

are busy at work prepping for the launch of the Galaxy S9, and reports suggest they could be about to fix the worst thing about the Galaxy S8.

The South Korean tech giant have enjoyed a bumper year, putting behind the Note 7 exploding battery fiasco with the successful launches of the S8, S8+ and Note 8.

All three phones received rave reviews and have posted impressive sales for Samsung.

And the Seoul-based firm will be hoping to continue this renaissance with the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9+, which is expected to launch in February.

Early signs are looking good for Samsung fans, with a new report suggesting the Galaxy S9 and S9+ could fix the worst feature of the S8 and S8+.

A new patent has emerged which shows Samsung moving the fingerprint scanner back to the front of their next Galaxy smartphone.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ received rave reviews from critics upon its launch in April.

But one thing it was criticised for was the placement of the fingerprint scanner, with it on the back and close to the rear camera.

The placement made it easy to smudge the camera lens by accident while trying to unlock the Galaxy S8 or S8+.

However, Samsung could be trying to rectify this design misstep, according to a patent unearthed by GSMArena.

The patent shows a fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy S9 on the front of the phone built into an iPhone X-style notch at the bottom of the screen.

This would enable Samsung to create a virtually bezel-free display while having the fingerprint scanner in a more convenient location that the S8.

It’s worth noting the patent is from 2016, however it’s possible Samsung may use it in the Galaxy S9 to address concerns over the fingerprint sensor’s placement.

In other Samsung Galaxy S9 news, the rumour mill has started to produce a steady stream of information about the upcoming Galaxy S handset.

Tipster Benjamin Geskin has shared a slew of specs he believes will feature in the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

Geskin predicts the new Galaxy handsets will ship with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage – although this will be expandable via microSD card.

For comparison, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ ship with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

According to the leakster, both new Galaxy S smartphones will inherit the dual camera set-up Samsung debuted with the Galaxy Note 8 a few months ago.

Geskin doesn’t have any additional details on the camera set-up, but does not it will be “improved” compared to the Note 8.

These improvements all seem very plausible, however, it’s worth taking them with a pinch of salt.

Geskin tweeted a number of whispers and rumours about the iPhone X that ended up being catastrophically wrong.

Although he backtracked on a number of his initial predictions, he was also correct about a few details.
