The latest Nintendo Switch games news

The Nintendo Switch games list continues to take shape as the company look to more third-party support.

So far, major outside development has been restricted to sports titles, however, this will all soon change.

Bethesda and Ubisoft are leading the pack with some pretty big announcements, while more will revealed in 2017 from others.

But until then, a lot of what has made the Nintendo Switch a success stems from the company itself.

And sometimes, the decision it makes for games can leave fans a little confused.

Take for example the upcoming launch of the Pokemon Ultra games on Nintendo 3DS.

These could have been the perfect games to introduce as the first Pokemon launches for the Switch, which does have its own exclusive coming.

However, this won’t launch for sometime and leaves a big Pocket Monster hole in the immediate holiday window,

So why did the Ultra games skip the Switch?

Developers Game Freak revealed why they ruled out bringing the new Pocket Monster project to the Switch.

While it’s easy to see how the game would probably sell well on the new gaming device, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon producer Shigeru Ohmori confirmed that they had unfinished business on the 3DS.

“We’ve been working with the 3DS hardware since Pokemon X and Y,” Ohmori told GameSpot.

“Even then we wanted to get the maximum power and maximum potential out of the 3DS, and ever since then we’ve continued to try [to do] that. With X and Y we thought we’d got as much as we could out, but then Sun and Moon came along and we pushed even harder and got as much as we could out of the system at that time.

“And now, again, with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, we’ve tried to make this the pinnacle of our work with the 3DS system and make it a culmination of all our efforts to get the absolute most out of the system that we can.”

This would suggest that the Pokemon Ultra series will be the last on the 3DS, although Nintendo have yet to confirm when they plan to slowdown releases on the older handheld.

It was announced at E3 2017 that Nintendo was working on a core Pokemon RPG (originally thought to be called Pokemon Stars) for the Nintendo Switch.

The first Super Mario Odyssey reviews have been revealed ahead of the game’s release on Nintendo Switch.

And so far, it’s made some pretty good reading for fans.

Edge Magazine released the first impressions of the game from a critic, awarding the game 10 out of 10.

The explanation behind this huge score was that while Mario may be getting on a bit, the Nintendo icon is no dinosaur.

The review also praised the different Cappy transformations, the soundtrack and the boss fights.

EDGE isn’t known for dishing out perfect scores very often, having awarded fewer than 20 in its more than 20 year history.

However, it’s not the first Mario game to receive a perfect score, with Mario 64 and both Galaxy games getting 10 out of 10.

Since then, Japanese publication Famitsu posted their own review score for the Super Mario romp, giving the Switch exclusive a score of 39/40.

It may not be a perfect 40/40, but it’s still extremely positive, and is the highest scoring game in the issue.

The upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive has an October 27 release date, and based on the early reviews, it could be a game of the year contender.

Nintendo may have pulled off one of its best deals so far for their emerging Switch console, which will also help it stand out further against the PS4 and Xbox One.

For those that don’t know, Nintendo announced a range of new games coming to their hybrid device earlier this year.
