Xbox One Backwards Compatibility UPDATE: TEN new games revealed

While there haven’t been any new Xbox One Backwards Compatibility announcements this week, it appears some special ones are on the horizon.

Microsoft have plans to release a new wave of titles from their original Xbox console, with the first now confirmed.

In a new leak, 12 new games have been reportedly confirmed for launch on the Xbox One.

We already know from the original announcement Microsoft made during E3, that both Crimson Skies and Fuzion Frenzy were going to be included.

And now thanks to an alleged online leak, we have a report on the rest.

Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility games coming to Xbox One include these titles:

  • Bioware’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
  • Team NINJA’s Ninja Gaiden Black
  • Volition’s Red Faction II
  • Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
  • Rare’s Grabbed by the Ghoulies
  • Double Fine’s Psychonauts
  • Namco’s Dead to Rights
  • Zipper’s Crimson Skies
  • Blitz Games’ Fuzion Frenzy
  • Firaxis’ Sid Meier’s Pirates!
  • Terminal Reality’s BloodRayne
  • SNK’s The King of Fighters Neowave

It’s worth taking this latest news with a pinch of salt as Microsoft have yet to confirm their full plans for original Xbox titles.

Some fans have pointed out that there aren’t many Original Xbox titles from Microsoft included, however, it’s fair to say that Microsoft might be working from gathered feedback on what are the most-wanted.

With things starting to leak online, it could mean that an announcement will be made soon.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has already revealed that original Xbox games are close, and that fans should expect some unannounced titles to be included.

Speaking to Gamespot, he said: “We’re close, we’re really close.

“I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline.

“I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don’t think we’ve announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we’re still on track. I feel really good. The games look great.”

Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility was announced at E3 2017.

Spencer also teased a surprise or two for Xbox One X owners.

“There’s some stuff we’re going to talk about in that space in terms of how compatibility is going to work on [Xbox One] X specifically that I think people will find pretty interesting.

“Some of the games hold up really well; some of them don’t. But the gameplay mechanics and the smile [you got] on your face 15 years ago playing those games, those are things that are still there.

“I see it, like getting back to playing Crimson Skies, [it’s] fantastic, and the game actually looks really good even though it’s obviously been around.”
