Pokemon Go trainers jumped into the Halloween event 2017 yesterday, which kicked off with the arrival of some new Gen 3 Ghost creatures.
Some of the new Gen 3 pocket monsters that have appeared in Pokemon Go are Sableye, Banette, Duskull and Dusclops.
The rest of the Gen 3 creatures will be rolled out in Pokemon Go starting from early December.
The big Pokemon Go update arrived late on Friday evening after Niantic had revealed the release date for the new Halloween event on Thursday.
However, ahead of the big Pokemon Go update arriving a HUGE mistake was discovered in the iOS and Android AR game.
Prior to the Halloween and Gen 3 announcement, dataminers had been searching to find signs on when Gen 3 could debut in Pokemon Go.
Files unearthed by members of The Silph Road Pokemon Go Reddit page revealed gender ratios of every Gen 3 Pokemon heading to the AR game.
However, among these data entries are two very big mistakes, Polygon reported.
In the files for the Gen 3 gender ratios are details of legendary Pokemon Latios and Latias.
These are legendary pocket monsters Pokemon Go trainers shouldn’t be able to catch for some time, due to their rarity.
But the big surprise is Niantic appear to have swapped the genders for the creatures within Pokemon Go’s code.
Latinos is a male legendary Pokemon while Latias is his female companion.
However, the code The Silph Road Reddit page dug up has Latios as 100 per cent female and Latias as 100 per cent male.
While it won’t have any direct impact on the gameplay in Pokemon Go, it is a big shake-up for long-term fans of the Pokemon series.
Besides discovering gender ratios, dataminers also discovered form descriptions and spawn definitions in the Pokemon Go code.
In a statement, Niantic later confirmed to Polygon that the Latios and Latias gender swap error has now been corrected.
In other Pokemon Go news, Niantic CEO John Hanke said the company is working on a new feature that will allow players to communicate with each other in the game.
Not only will make it easier to organise Legendary Raids, it will enable teams to potentially come up with strategies and offer advice.
The Niantic boss said that the new feature would increase social interactions between players and improve co-ordination within communities.
The feature would likely take the place of Facebook groups and other external communication tools.
