Parsons Green: Second teenager charged after fatal stabbing

Shafiq Smith, 18, of Brudenell Road, south-west London, also faces charges of attempted murder and threatening a person with a bladed or pointed article.

Omid Saidy, from Fulham, was killed at the west London station on Monday at around 7:30pm.

Saidy was knifed to death outside Parsons Green Tube station, the same place where 30 people were injured in a terrorist attack last month.

The teen was heard screaming for help as he laid injured and later died at the scene.

Officers and paramedics rushed to the station to treat three men in the area who were suffering from injuries.

A 16-year-old, who can’t be named, has also been charged with murder.

He appeared at Wimbledon Youth Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on October 23.

The teen from Durham was injured during the attack and was arrested after being released from hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, from the Metropolitan Police said: “A young man has tragically lost his life for simply asking a drug dealer to move on.

“I urge anyone who can assist our investigation to come forward without delay.”

The police said a friend of the victim who arrived on a moped was also stabbed in the attack and is still in hospital.

Omid Saidy’s friend has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Appealing for witnesses, Mr McHugh added: “It is imperative that we speak to anyone who was in the area of Parsons Green station between 7pm and 8pm who may have witnessed the murder or the actions of the suspects immediately following the incident.

“In addition, I am keen to identify the black male who fled Parsons Green Lane immediately following the murder and am appealing for footage that members of the public may have recorded as events in the area that took place.”

Two females and another male who were arrested at the same time have since been released under investigation.
