Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is regularly seen wearing some of the world’s finest jewels

According to a new book “How To Dress Like A Princess: The Secrets Of Kate’s Wardrobe”, by Claudia Joseph, Kate Middleton’s jewels are thought to be worth £600,000 – but she also wears countless priceless pieces from the Royal collection.

Not all of the jewellery she wears is worth thousands, and in Ottawa in 2011 she wore £126 gold-plated leaf earrings from Vinnie Day.

In 2013, Kate, 35, attended a film premiere in a 19.99 necklace from Zara, and she has worn an £8 pair of earrings from Accessorize.

But the most stunning pieces in her collection are of course the more lavish items.

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, wore the Cartier Halo Tiara on her wedding day

Cartier is a favourite of Kate’s, and she wore a pair of gold and diamond hoop earrings given to her by Prince William, and costing £35,700, at a SoprtsAid 40th anniversary dinner last year. She has also been photographed in the matching necklace, £55,000.

She also sports a Cartier watch, although it is a low-key choice with no bling.

A pair of aquamarine drop earrings she wore in 2015 are thought to be worth £14,300.

Her most famous item of jewellery is of course her engagement ring, originally owned by Princess Diana and bought by Garrard. It is thought to be worth £300,000 today.

Prince Charles has also gifted his daughter-in-law jewellery, including a £150,000 diamond bracelet.

And what of the heirloom pieces Kate enjoys access to as a member of the Royal Family? Aside from her engagement, these are all considered priceless thanks to their rich history and royal connections.

Grant Mobley, a gemologist and Director at Pluczenik, one of the world’s leading diamantaires said: “Without a doubt, the most well-known piece of diamond jewellery owned by The Duchess of Cambridge is her House of Garrard-designed engagement ring.

“Previously worn by the late Princess Diana, the ring, features a 12-carat oval cut Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds set in white gold. This iconic piece cost £28,500 in 1981, and now has an estimated value of £300,000.

“The Cartier Halo Tiara that The Duchess of Cambridge wore on her wedding day is also a magnificent piece.

“Originally purchased from Cartier in 1936, the tiara is encrusted with nearly 1,000 diamonds and was as an anniversary gift from King George VI to his wife, Queen Elizabeth I (the Queen’s mother). It was then re-gifted to Queen Elizabeth II on her 18th birthday.

“In addition to the Halo Tiara, Kate’s wedding day earrings were both spectacular and simplistic in design.

“These earrings aligned perfectly with the elegant and timeless look Kate opted for on her big day. A custom-made gift from Kate’s parents, the earrings featured a diamond stylised acorn and oak leaf, both part of the Middleton family’s coat of arms.

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has worn the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace: It has 38 diamonds

“The Nizam of Hyderabad necklace is one of the most extravagant pieces Kate has worn. Featuring an astounding 38 diamonds in total, its centre boasts 13 emerald cut diamonds and a pear-shaped drop pendant.

“Due to its diamond composition, this statement necklace is incredibly valuable and rich in history. Kate borrowed the stunning necklace from the Queen to wear to a black tie fundraiser in London.

“This piece was gifted to the Queen on her wedding day by Nizam of Hyderabad in India, hence the name, and she has worn it for several official portraits.

“Finally, the diamond-encrusted maple leaf brooch that The Duchess of Cambridge wore during her first Canadian tour in 2011.

“This piece was borrowed from the Queen’s robust jewellery collection and is one of the most recognisable brooches that she owns.

“First worn by the Queen’s mother on her first visit to Canada in 1939, and then by the Queen in 1951, this stunning diamond brooch has become a staple piece for the Royal family while visiting Canada.

“The size, quality, and number of the diamonds in these superb pieces make them extremely valuable – and their history and sentimental significance make them priceless.”
