Since the teaser trailer for Star Wars The Last Jedi back in April, fans have been concerned for Luke Skywalker’s state.
Having said, “I only know one thing, it’s time for the Jedi to end,” and the fact he’s looming over the latest poster like Darth Vader before him, could he in fact be the surprise villain?
Hamill, who has played the character since 1977’s A New Hope, has taken to Twitter to claim Luke has always been the bad guy – something fans should take will a huge pinch of salt seeing as the star is known for his trolling.
The 66-year-old star tweeted: “NEWS FLASH for all you ‘Villains Looming at the Back of Posters’ theorists: Luke was ALWAYS the villain! (from a certain point of view).”
Apart from pointing out the villain is always at the back of the Star Wars posters, the post included a picture of Luke with text pointing out how he’s a radicalised terrorist – indoctrinated into an ancient religion – who kills 300,000 people when blowing up the Death Star.

Hamill also retweeted a fan who shared a picture of the Death Star under the title, Never Forget.
It read: “Over a million officer, pilots , crewers and stormtroopers lost their lives in the massacre.
In reality it would appear there is something more complicated going on with Luke, as though he’s battling both the Light and the Dark side.
After all Luke appears on both the Light and Dark side IMAX posters and although he’s looming like a villain in the main poster – he does have both Rey and Kylo Ren’s lightsabers reflecting on his face.
Star Wars 8 The Last Jedi will be released in UK cinemas on December 14, 2017.
