WATCH: Vladimir Putin bursts into laughter after Russian minister’s gaffe

’s agriculture minister tickled as he suggested exporting pork around the world.

Highlighting Indonesia as a place could target, Mr Putin explained the country did not eat the meat.

The footage quickly went viral with uploads of YouTube getting hundreds of thousands of views.

Minister Alexander Tkachyov was detailing meeting about agricultural development when he made the gaffe, to the enjoyment of the Russian leader and other officials.

Mr Tkachyov underlined Germany’s export achievements and said Russia should follow suit by increasing pork exports to Asia.

He said: “Look at Germany’s numbers, 5.5 million tonnes of pork produced a year, 3 million is exported to all countries. 

“To China, to Indonesia, to Japan, Korea and so on.

“That is why we must not stop with pork no matter what, we must grow volumes.

But Mr Putin quickly stepped in explaining Indonesia should not be on the list.

“Indonesia is a Muslim country, they don’t eat pork.”

With deputy prime minister Arkady Dvorkovich laughing alongside him, Mr Putin continued to snigger as Mr Tkachyov responded.

He said: “Okay, South Korea”.

Mr Putin put his head in his hands as he tried to contain his giggles.

The Russian leader called for “maximum effort” to strengthen cooperation.

Mr Putin said: “We should exert maximum efforts to strengthen the other line, the line of cooperation in search of solution to common challenges and problems.

“If we are able to construct the relations in such a manner, everyone will certainly benefit from it.”
