Star Wars 8: HOW does Kylo Ren find Luke and Rey? Deleted scenes hold the key

Kylo Ren may be a clever chap with some impressive powers (and anger issues) but how will he find Luke?

Not even Snoke and the massed resources of the First Order and Resistance were able to discover the location of the missing Jedi (former Jedi? Last Jedi?) until the missing piece of map was found.

Every report, combined with the latest Episode 8 trailer, points towards a spectacular showdown on Ahch-To between the two Skywalkers and a certain girl of no fixed parentage.

The deleted scenes from The Force Awakens could explain everything.

WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS

The first showed Kylo Ren discover the crashed Millennium Falcon on Starkiller Base.

He was shown exploring the ship with Stormtroopers before going into the iconic cockpit alone.

As well as clearly being place that was full of memories of his childhood as Ben Solo, this would have been the perfect opportunity to plant a tracker. Watch the scene next.

The other deleted scene hit headlines due to the graphic and shocking violence.

It was a moment in Maz Kanata’s castle when Unkar Plutt from Jakku tracked Rey down and confronted her for stealing the Millennium Falcon. The scene showed Chewbacca violently rip the huge Crolute’s arm off at the shoulder and hurl it across the room.

Again, he could have planted a tracker when he first found them or, even more likely, had already placed trackers on all his ships back in the junkyard as a safeguard against theft.

Star Wars theorist Mike Zeroh explores both of these options although he is careful to point out that deleted scenes by their very nature may not actually be canon.

Of course ether also remains a possibility that Snoke and the First Order have a spy planted among the Resistance who will leak that information.

There has also been considerable evidence that Snoke was able to watch Kylo Ren in the womb.

Similarly, many fans are starting to believe that he has been keeping an eye on Rey or that he even discovered her himself, and left her on Jakku as a child.

Can he watch any powerful Force user across space? Does he have some mysterious link with Rey, the same way he does with Kylo Ren?
